Better Day

I always feel so much better after i vent; thanks for listening. Gavin was so much fun today and Sammy had two friends over. The laughter always lifts my spirits. I had to relinquish my duties as leader of my marathon group and that makes me mad. I was really hoping to run the Breast Cancer Marathon in Jax, Fl on Valentines Day, but another opportunity missed. I find myself saying this phrase a lot these days, "Maybe next year " and hoping there will be another year.

I picked up my chemo drugs yesterday and had to pay $3000. That was a little shocking, but now our in-network deductible has been met. Now we just have to worry about the out of network cost. We have to pay 20% of everything including a $7000 deductible. It is kind of scary to think 20% of my $6000 chemo drugs per month is $1200. That doesn't include any testing or doctor visits. My PET scans are $6000 each and MRI's usually run $3000 unless they scan my brain again at a higher resolution. Then the cost multiplies and i haven't even see that bill yet. Needless to say that this is one of our concerns for Chicago since it is out of network. We are hoping we can do most of our stuff here so it will be in-network such as my drugs. Travis also spoke with the benefits person at work and she has been extremely helpful. She informed us that our policy has a life time coverage of $5,000,000 instead of $1,000,000. This makes us feel so much better since i have already used up $550,000. Thank goodness for insurance.

I have had so many nice emails from people i haven't spoken to in quite a while. Novak you totally made my day. Tanya and Teil I loved my flowers. Trishie and the Flemings, your generosity made me cry. The food from all our neighbors is awesome and the overwhelming support for sitters and lunches for the kids is incredible. Thank you so much everyone. It means so much to all of us to know you all care about us. When this is all said and done i want Sammy and Gavin to read all that you have done and realize how loved we all are.

A request... I was hoping to make a book for the kids of the cards and emails you have sent and was hoping to include memories of me that you all have. If you could email me a story, a funny, a memory, etc. that would be so great. I may have to have a PG 13 or R rating on some, but those are the ones i love the best.

Any who as Mrs. Fleming always says...

Hugs and Kisses

Laura I am amazed at your strength and sense of humor. I am praying for you and your family.

In the little time we have spent together, this is what I know.... you always have a smile on your face as we pass each other at the pre-school.
Last summer we often shared the table at the baby pool, and occasionally a glass of wine :)
while Gavin and Nikolas shared (traded) snacks and pool toys. You would talk so proudly of your daughter and how she was growing up to fast, right before my daughter dragged me to the "big pool" and you would kindly watch over Nikolas until I could return.
I look forward to another glass of wine by the pool :)
Best wishes,
Beth

Peaks and valleys...glad you are having a better day!

I forgot to mention in my list of Chicago things that it is also home of the annual Player's Ball - a gathering of US Pimps. Seriously. I love google...

I hope you experience more peaks then valleys in the days ahead Laura.

So happy to hear today is a better day!
I love your idea for a book of past good times for Gavin and Sammy. I have a couple of pictures they would like:
(you at Randy's 30th suprise B-day party running the Black Jack 21 table like a Vegas Pro all night!).

We miss you. Have a safe trip.

Well - first of all - you are incredibly amazing. There are so many memories............I will have to dig out my pictures which will bring them all back. Graduation stands out - I remember on that special day my dear friend was going to pick me up and decided to go and get me flowers on the way and got in a car accident. Fortunately, you were okay but you did have to where that white turbine around your head for your graduation walk of the aisle. Oh Yeah - Senior Prom -I'll have to find a picture of us with Farney and Christman. How do we post pictures?

Hey Laura,
So glad to hear you are having a better day. I need to go through my photos to see what I have. I believe I have some from Disney.. that was fun but the REAL funny memories are before we had kids. :) I think one of my first memories of you was boat shopping with the boys (remember we were SO bored) and shopping at the Altamonte Mall.. trying on "hooker" shoes and trying on clothes that made us look young. And, my favorite-trying on wedding rings!!! Such a girl thing but so much fun. :) All the weddings are fun memories too. But those weekends with the four of us were great.
I'm praying for your strength to return, your patience and good, good news next week. Keep the faith, your humor and know all your friends love you and are praying for you!! xoxo

Laura: So glad to hear you had a better day! I'm not going to say "stay positive" because I always hated when peole said that to me. But I will say hang in there, and know that you have many, many people rooting for you.

Did you say PG and R rated? I think Temple's email about the porn should maybe be x rated - tell the kids they can't read that part until they are married. Temple asked me if we ditched Christman and Farney and went to Tahoe to that cabin in Donner? I couldn't remember but I do know Sr. Ball was with them........
